Reno County Fire District #3 is a volunteer organization that covers 134 square miles, that includes the City of Nickerson and the Highlands in northern Reno County. The governing body for this district is Reno County.
The population of the Fire district is approx. 2100. The Fire District responds to an average of 100 calls per year, which may consist of a variety of calls ranging from vehicle accidents, structure and grass fires, Haz-Mat,Natural Disasters, Severe Weather, etc. The Fire District also responds for Mutual Aid requests for other Reno County Fire Districts, City Of Hutchinson, Rice County, and McPherson County.
There are 25 volunteers to respond to the various calls. All personnel are CPR certified or higher certification. The Fire District consists of 2-1000 gal Engines, 1-3000 gal Tender, 2 – 300 gal Brush Trucks, 2- 400 gal Brush Trucks which are assigned between Station 1 in Nickerson and Station 2 in the Highlands.
Meetings are 2nd and 4th Mondays at 7pm, if interested, please feel free to attend a meeting for requirements to be a volunteer firefighter for our community.
